Facebook going paid...

Okay there are continuing rumours that by so and so date Facebook will start charging...don't believe it. This rumour is actually much older then facebook...I've been online almost continuously since 1998 (actually longer...think 14.4 dial up days but I don't count that time because it took so long to do anything until broadband connections came out...but i still do miss being able to read a book while a file downloaded or uploaded.) and was a regular on MSN (hotmail for the uninformed) and Yahoo....even used Lycos and etc. Those services were rumoured every other day to start charging..and they never did. Now some no longer exist and some still do but are extremely useless. Hotmail became so useless my account eventually died and though I can still remember my login name the pw is way beyond me. Yahoo I still use for email, but have switched to gmail for most stuff now. In other words as newer and better servicescame out, others died or stopped being used as much. Hotmail and Yahoo were the stuff..then along came Google and all it's services. AOL ruled then came broadband. Myspace appeared then came Facebook. Why is it these super popular places never charge? If they did then all the users would leave over the ads. These places do not make money off the users directly, but rather off the advertisers. Now some do also make money charging companies over your user habits. Facebook for one makes tons based on your habits. They got so bad and are so bad they are regularly given warning by governments over what they do. That's why ever other month or so Facebook's privacy policy changes. They do this to confuse the users so they can use their personal information...one time they sold the rights to a female users pictures that then proceeded to show up in personal ad advertising that her husband came across. How'd you like to suddenly be looking over your spouse's shoulder and see a popup ad asking "Single Women looking in your neighborhood.." and see a picture of your wife there? Worse is the sites with married people looking to cheat. So keep an eye on what Facebook does especially when it changes things on you. It's a cool service (though not a necessary) and free and will stay that way as long as they can make money off ads. Now with so many users they do not actually need to mine data for their ads, but it helps them to target audiences. They do not do this via putting spyware on your pc at least or mac if you use one of those though. It's used so they hit you when on Facebook with stuff based on your likes and dislikes. All those things are just huge data mining things. Hence why i do not accept the support thingies (even if I do support the causes) or the online petitions (online petitions are not really reliable for their end use. Too much information can be faked for them..real ones signed by real people are always more acceptable because they can see the different writing...with how the internet works it'd be hard to verify all the online "signatures" came from actual people.)
So people until Facebook actually says they are gonna charge ignore any posts about them doing so..in fact Facebook has stated very publicly they will NOT EVER CHARGE for their services. Some things are actually free...even if not as free as you may think. In this case Facebook takes your likes and dislikes and uses it to sell ads targetted to you. Which is kind of cool... look at it this way. At least you shouldn't ever have to see an add for something you may not like if you use Facebook long enough. Imagine if they could do that for TV... I'm sure there's tons of ads on their we all hate to see.
