Afghanistan.....

So we have the head general in Afghanistan getting the possible boot over cemments about the president and congress...hmm whatever happened to freedom of speech? Wanna know why we're failing in Afghanistan..the real reason? It's rather simple...any real military man knows the way to defeat an insurgency/rebellion/guerilla force is rather basic. 1) Cut off his support....with the local populace and afar. We can't do anything about outside interference really without starting a long string of wars, but all the effort we put into gathering intelligence to kill useless so called 3rd in commands who are easily replaced and actually accomplish nothing could be put into finding out when and where supplies are coming from and disrupting those supplies. Without supplies the insurgents can't fight. The local problem is easier...instead of backing a corrupt government and warlords, We should have brought in a UN mandated government force to help actually create a real Afghan government not controlled by one group or another....disarmed the warlords and held them also accountable for their actions. We should have centered on working with the local and not with Karzai or the warlords. By winning them over we would have undercut the support for the Taliban and the other factions. 2)Let the military fight the war and have the civilians stay out of it. Our military is civilian controlled, but last time I checked those civilians are not experts...they should let the military and military intelligence do their jobs and keep out of it and pull the CIA out of it. Every place the CIA has gone since 9/11 has given the US a black eye...this intelligence gathering to find and kill the heads of the insurgency is a CIA thing and so far has proven utterly worthless. The military would do it the right way..win the population over and destroy the insurgency's logistics..yes even a guerilla force requires logistics. It's kind of hard to strike without weapons or ammo and the military has always made it a point to take out an enemies logistics first and foremost, that's how I know the constant strikes against "high value" targets are CIA and not military, especially since they have been failing for years to have any affect at all on the war. Sure, it's a good idea to take out the other sides leaders, but in this case where that leader is automatically replaced and causes no real effects...it's a waste. get the CIA out of the war and back where they belong gathering and acting on intelligence in other ways. 3) If you punish your commanders for speaking their minds or because of their opinions, in the end you'll not find very many commanders worth a crap to work for you. MacArthur wanted to go to China and had the ability to do so...Truman said no kicked him out of the military and we end up with the stalemate in Korea still today.....Chuchill and Patton wanted to do the same to the USSR...Truman and Eisenhower said nope...and we ended up in a long cold war that cost how many dollars and lives? The fact is contrary to popular and actual UNEDUCATED belief, the military answer is usually the best one. Yes lives are lost, but tell me if Patton and Churchill had their way back in 1945 against the USSR look at all the conflicts and deaths since that would have been avoided. (The Soviets were scared of Patton even more so then the Germans and unlike the Soviets and Germans we would have gone in as liberators and had the support of the local people as we moved deeper into the east, which means we would have actually won.) Starship troopers was a very corny movie but when their teacher pointed out violence was the actual answer for most problems throughout history and etc., he was actually right. Until all men and women can actually sit down and talk intellectually about problems and allow each other their beliefs, and as long as you have men and women willingly to kill people to force their beliefe son others, that will always be the end answer. The extreme Muslims, militant fundamentalists, and etc. are actually fanatics..diseased individuals who only see their way and believe everyone else should follow it or die... and like rabid dogs should be put down. This isn't a matter of religious freedom, but one of saving the world to make it's own choice over those who force others to follow what they believe. To do so is plain wrong..the one thing that sets us above animals is our ability to choose...those who do not want others to have that choice are nothing but the animals they wish to turn others into...and should be put down. and my final point..in war their are civilan casualties..especially in a war against those who use sivilians as shields and hide among them. These casualties are not intentional and the fact the Taliban can get away with blowing up hundreds of civilians at a time and we get flack over a few just goes to show how askew the worlds views of this war is. Karzai himself spouts against us when we accidently kill civilians caught in the crossfire or mistaken as Taliban yet doesn't say a word when his own soldiers intentionally attack ours or the Taliban explodes a bomb in a civilian area. We have got to start winning the propaganda war over this...even if it is pointing we will no longer guarentee the safety of "civilians" helping to shelter the Taliban, but will start to prosecute thos Taliban caught for their deaths also. The world should too, but won't because most news organisations are owned and controlled by saudi or other mid-eastern groups.
